Ergonomic ProbesThese probes are usually used to press on to the Accupressure points, but Physiotherapists usually use them in cases of Bell's palsy and TMJ problems. Since all the TMJ points are located inside the mouth on the buccal mucosa, the use of soft cotton buds is advisable. Inorder to not damage the fragile mucosa (these cotton buds are fitted to the front hollow of the probes). But as we all know that cotton does not conduct the electricity, so we need to wet the cotton end of probes in water repeatedly.Electrical GlovesThese gloves are not the normal gloves madeup of any usual material but are made of specific carbon material which conducts electricity. These gloves are to be worn by the therapist, after wearing normal surgical gloves (this helps in insulating self from the conduction). Two pairs of positive and negative electrodes are then attached to the gloves with the help of knobs provided on the dorsal part of the gloves.Major advantages of giving current through these gloves are a). One can also give the massage to the patient simultaneously, b). Since it is our hands the pressure to be applied on the specific parts can be easily monitored, c). One can move according to the body contours, etc. Last but not the least the non-therapeutic effect of the gloves on the patient is that it gives a huge confidence with the therapist, because of the touch and the fact that the therapist is physically looking after the client. Conductive PadsThese are usually used to cover specific tender points and around any open wounds and injury.
